Outside the air was crisp and fresh. Mimi inhaled deeply. She wore her favorite Delias black wool peacoat and red mittens. She held a cappichino on her hand and the other was in her pocket, grasping the Trojan.
She grinned as she walked down the street up to the outlet mall to buy something special for that night. It was going to be their first night alone in almost a month, and she needed to dress for the part. She immediately stopped at Victoria’s Secret. She always loved shopping there, browsing the cabinets and hangers, feeling the silky, velvety and satin materials of the many bras, panties and negligee.
A short, thin red-headed employee named Bridgette approached Mimi as she examined a red camisole. “May I help you?”
Mimi shook her head. “I know what I’m looking for.”
Bridgette smiled knowingly. “Anniversary?”
Mimi smiled and shook her head. “No, a bit of a reunion.” She chose a red silk camisole with matching thong and walked happily out the door.
There was something about Los Angeles, the air, the atmosphere, that made almost everyone feel the way Mimi did at that moment; filled with a rush of intimacy and excitement. The taxi driver saw her Victoria’s Secret bag and smiled. A Victoria’s Secret Bag and the Chairmont Hotel only meant one thing. She was definitely meeting someone there.
