Chapter 17
The day of the wedding came and the chaos began. Belle and Daniella had spent the night at her parents’ house while Shawn had slept at their house. When she woke, Belle had an hour to take a shower and get ready to go the salon. She had bathed Danni the night before and laid her clothes out so that while she showered and dressed, Marlena could dress Danni.
“Mom, is my veil in the car?” Belle called as she finished blow drying her hair.
“Yes sweetie. I put it in there about ten minutes ago along with your tiara and Daniella’s diaper bag.” Marlena checked her watch. “Are you about ready to go?”
“Yep, just need to grab my purse and we’re off.” She said as she jogged down the stairs.
Ten minutes later they were pulling up in front of the salon. As soon as Daniella was unloaded and Belle had grabbed her tiara and veil they walked in to the swarm of bridesmaids who were already in chairs being worked on. Carrie, Sami and Chloe were having their nails done, Cassie and Greta were in the middle of their makeup jobs, Caitlin and Faith were sitting in side by side chairs having their hair curled and Mimi and Abby, the junior bridesmaid, were still having their hair done. Belle was led to a seat beside Mimi while Marlena took her soon to be grand-daughter to join her cousins.
“Nervous yet?” Mimi asked as the stylist slipped more bobby pins into her French twist.
“Well besides being too nauseous to eat, too shaky to put in my earrings and worrying about every detail, I’m fine.” She said and tried to calm herself.
“Just relax Belle. I promise it will all go off without a hitch. You should have something to drink to calm your nerves.” Mimi suggested before getting up to head to the makeup chair.
“Mama! Mama! I pitty!!!” Daniella came bounding toward Belle with her hair all in curls. A wreath of flowers would be placed on her head once they arrived at the church.
Belle had the stylist pause for a moment. “Yes you are baby girl. You’re very pretty. In fact, you’re mommy’s beautiful girl. Can you give mommy kisses?”
Danni smiled and happily obliged before climbing off of Belle’s lap and running off to show her aunts her hair.
Belle laughed as she watched her little girl twirl around. She loved being in the spotlight.
An hour and a half later everyone had their hair done, their makeup finished and their nails manicured. After gathering the girls and tipping all the stylists they left for the church.
The parking lot at St. Luke’s was already beginning to fill with the cars of friends and family who had waited for so long to see Shawn and Belle wed. The women took the back entrance in and headed to the bridal suite. The bridesmaids changed first, then got the flower girls dressed and finally helped Belle into her dress.
“Oh my god. Belle you look amazing.” Sami said as she stood back and took a look at her baby sister. She wasn’t a baby anymore and realizing that made tears come to her eyes.
“Thanks.” Belle looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. In about an hour she would be pronounced as Shawn’s wife. It was the day she had waited so long for and now it was only moments away.
A knock at the door took her out of her daze. “Belle it’s me, Rex. Can I come in?”
“Yea, come on in.” She answered as she situated her tiara.
He opened the door. “The florist just dropped off the bouquets and the girl’s wreaths and petals so I though I would bring…” He stopped suddenly when Belle turned around. His little sister was standing there in her wedding dress. “Wow. Belle you look great.”
“Thanks.” She went and hugged him. “You don’t look too bad yourself.”
Mimi went over and kissed her husband. “Gotta love my sexy Rexy.”
“Ok well you girls finish doing whatever it is you do and we’ll see you out there in about fifteen minutes.” Rex kissed Mimi and then kissed Belle’s cheek.
“Ok let’s see here.” Belle handed the bridesmaids their bouquets of pale pink roses and put the flower girls’ wreaths on their heads. Sami took the flower girls’ baskets and filled each with white rose petals. Finally Belle opened the last box and picked up her bouquet. “Well I guess this is it. I just want you all to know I love you so much I’m so honored you could all be here today.”
Just then they heard the beginning notes of Canon in D. They all kissed Belle on the cheek and left one by one, preparing to be escorted down the aisle. As Abby left with the flower girls in tow John walked in. He took one look at her and gasped. His baby girl was about to get married. Where had the time gone?
“Izzy you look beautiful.” He said. He held out his arm. “Shall we?”
She smiled and grabbed her daddy’s arm and together they walked toward the church. She watched from the side as the bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle. First Abby with Will, followed by Cassie with Philip, Greta with Eric, Chloe with Brady, Sami with Lucas, Carrie with Austin and finally the matron of honor and best man Mimi and Rex. The doors then closed and the flower girls and ring bearers were lined up. Faith stood next to her brother Matthew, Faith was with Justin and last but certainly not least, Daniella stood with Dustin. She looked back at her mommy and Poppy as she called John and smiled.
